Overview
The project brief was to combine exceptional functionality and robust detailing within a visually striking exterior. The resulting 2 storey octagonal IT suite provides a truly outstanding teaching environment.
Fitted with clerestory roof apex windows under a central raised roof, this innovatively designed facility is clearly a landmark structure for Crosfields School. Excellent use of space has been achieved throughout the building, with spacious classrooms located over two floors and plentiful storage space beneath the 360 degree eaves. An access way formed at first floor level links the structure to the neighbouring building, whilst externally, cedar cladding will be allowed to weather naturally. Over time, the burnished silver appearance of the cedar wood will contribute to making this building a stunning focal point at the entrance of the school.
